"Hi
Ross - I would like to thank you for all the work that went
into your Log Analysis Handbook. It is the standard reference
I use with great regularity. The 3rd millennium edition is a
welcome work which I look forward to with great interest –
Joe R.

SPECIALISTS FOR YOUR TEAM: Spectrum 2000 Mindware specializes in all aspects
of log analysis and petrophysics, emphasizing
integration with geophysical, geological, engineering, and simulation
disciplines. We work with your team, in your office or ours, anywhere
in the world. We offer mentoring, forensic reviews, tutoring,
and education services, as well as the more usual petrophysical
analysis for reservoir description.
FULL SPECTRUM SERVICES: Spectrum
2000 petrophysical services include consulting
and data processing, courses and seminars, software sales and development, project
management, systems assessment and procurement, and professional
staff recruiting, permanent or part time.
EXPERIENCE COUNTS: We have a successful 40+ year track record
in Canadian and foreign work, and offer
services to oil companies, government agencies, and other consulting
firms to augment their expertise in log analysis
and petrophysics.
We wrote The Book on log analysis: "Crain's Petrophysical Handbook
on CD-ROM", available from the author, is continuously
updated and on-line. This is still the only textbook with "computer-ready"
math, derivations of all equations from the Log Response Equation,
and worked numerical examples of every equation.
Our Interactive Learning Center is available
for self-directed home study. A certificate of proficiency may
be obtained by passing a rigorous exam.
Because of our wide ranging experience, we work on many difficult
and varied reservoir types - from granites in Viet
Nam and Indonesia to metamorphics, fractured,
low permeability, or variable pore geometry problems. Recently,
we have developed unique methods for determining resource potential
in large shallow gas and oil prospects as well as low resistivity
pay in laminated shaly sands.
INTEGRATED ANALYSIS: We stress calibration to conventional and
special core data, as well as to well test and production history.
We emphasize permeabilty and flow capacity as well as the more
usual porosity and water saturation results. We can even do this
in the laminated shaly sands of the Milk
River - and
with enough research, the technique may be applicable to your
low resistivity pay.
MULTI-DISCIPLINE NETWORKING: We have close working relationships with
other expert petrophysicists, geologists, geophysicists, reservoir
engineers, simulation engineers, and completion engineers. Jobs
requiring a multi-disciplinary approach can be co-ordinated through
our office or yours. With these arrangements in place, we are
often able to undertake large, small, remote, or overseas jobs
on relatively short notice.
PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT:
E. R. (Ross) Crain, P.Eng. is a Consulting Petrophysicist and
a Professional Engineer with over 35 years of experience in reservoir
description, petrophysical analysis, and management. He has been
a specialist in the integration of well log analysis and petrophysics
with geophysical, geological, engineering, and simulation phases
of oil and gas exploration and exploitation, with widespread Canadian
and Overseas experience.
His textbook, "Crain's Petrophysical Handbook on CD-ROM"
is widely used as a reference to practical log analysis. Mr Crain
is an Honourary Member and Past President of the Canadian Well
Logging Society (CWLS),
a Member of Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA),
and a Registered Professional Engineer with Alberta Professional
Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists (APEGGA).
